Stellantis reports decline in U.S. sales, but makes gains in EV sales

Stellantis described Wednesday that U.S. new cars product sales in the fourth quarter declined 16% to 347,669 motor vehicles marketed, making six consecutive quarters of profits dips, in contrast with the yr-ago period of time.

For the entire 12 months, income also plummeted 13% in comparison with 2021 to 1,547,076 vehicles as the automaker struggled against the industry’s different supply shortages that have limited output.

But product sales of the company’s plug-in hybrid electric powered automobiles increased 26% 12 months-more than-yr and 21% in the fourth quarter when compared with the yr-ago time period, Stellantis stated.

The automaker is on course to have half of its sales blend be EVs by the finish of the 10 years, it explained. Jeep has announced designs for totally electric powered offerings in coming several years, with cars these as the Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S slated for generation in 2024.

“We noticed powerful desire for our (plug-in hybrid) choices in the face of marketplace market problems that carried across 2021 into 2022, like output constraints and a disruption of areas and supplies in general, which adversely impacted our general product sales,” U.S. Head of Gross sales Jeff Kommor stated.

Ivan Drury, Edmunds.com senior supervisor of insights, explained 2023 will be a turning issue for Stellantis.
